I’m thinking of asking Yannick to help me organize my yarn stash tonight. One of my maternity leave goals was to enter my stash into Ravelry, and I go back to work next Tuesday. Hmph. I have it mostly organized into large Rubbermaid bins, but out of the 15 bins(!!!) 4 are a mess of stuff I need to organize into the others. Plus there is only SO much old acrylic that I need to keep for future toymaking. I know he’d be willing to help me go through it if it means some of it leaving this house…but do I really want him to see how much I have? I mean, he’s seen the bins. But they’re opaque. It’s a whole ‘nother ballgame when you see how much can be crammed into each one. This is yarn, people. It squishes!

Don’t let him help. It’ll end in questions like “why do you need that much yarn?” “when are you going to knit with all that?” “I don’t think you should buy more yarn AT ALL.” And this is just what I could think of right now…(I didn’t have a chance NOT to have him help, since I was pregnant and on bed rest and the nursery HAD to be cleared of my stuff!) Though of course it depends on how much you can take!

I had the same issue with our recent move. Most of the yarn is in opaque Rubbermaid tubs, and organized. But then hubby decided that the one open bin needed to be put into the other bins and now everything is disorganized and he knows pretty much everything I have! But he kept quiet–he had a whole double car garage and basement to pack!!

I just went through all my bins to send my mom home with yarn from my stash. She was aghast at the sight of it all, and I only have 5 bins. Based on my experience, I’d say you are treading on dangerous waters. 😉

Nooooooooooo!!! I’ve only got 5 bins, and Phil’s already telling me I don’t need to go to Rhinebeck this year, because – get this, it’s priceless – “I have enough yarn”. BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
