This blog gets the honor of being the first one reviewed ‘cus

a) it’s the first blog I finished reading from conception to today, and

b) it’s the first blog I ever read, the blog that led me to realize there was actually a like-minded community of other knitters out there, even Canadian ones!

So thank you, Stephannie, for letting me know I wasn’t alone.

I found her blog by accident. I had done an internet search on “Charlotte’s Web shawls” because I’d seen a lot of emails in one of my knitting egroups about them and wanted to know what the fuss was about. I wound up at someone’s blog (I think Wendy?) and learned about these gorgeous shawls, and saw a link to see what the uber-creative Stephannie had done…she’d turned a Charlotte’s Web shawl into Charlotte the Poncho. It’s stunning! I salivated. I drooled. I stayed and read through her entire blog, archives and all. And don’t just think she’s any old knitter, oh no! She’s a DR too! And I’m amazed at how fast she knits! There might be others out there as speedy or faster, but with her as my original measuring stick, I, sadly, don’t quite make it up to par on the speedy front. Aha! A goal!

Ok, seems I forgot to mention commitment #2 from the other day. So here it is:

2) I will go through each blog I read and actually read it. Not just skim. I will go through the archives and catch up and really get to know the kindred souls who put their hearts into every post. Luckily, I have a nifty little program called Plucker on my Palm that lets me take web pages and view them offline…so I can browse the blogs at my leisure.

In the spirit of this announcement I will offer a little review of each blog once its been completed. So…

Ok, so I’m 37 minutes late for my 1-post-per-day trial system. But it’s Yannick’s fault, I swear! We went out for dinner, and then watched CSI:NY and then he went on and on about possessed stuffed animals…it was all I could do to break away and come send this message. Besides, I could have changed the message time and lied, and then no one would ever know. But I didn’t. I’m honest. Honest!

But I’m not coming empty handed…I’ve got THIS:

or maybe needing to be committed? Or how about making mittens? I have two pairs of those to do… (ok, I’ll stop now)

I don’t have any knitting updates as I’ve been crocheting like mad on Piggy so I can get back to my knitting. So what can I talk about in a knitting blog if I don’t have knitting progress? Oh come on, I’m sure I can make something up!

I hereby make 2 commitments to my knitting blog-world.

1) I will post every day. Since my lovely non-knitting, non-blogging friend Jackie commented that I don’t update my blog enough, I’ve decided that I would like to New Year’s Resolute myself to blog on a daily basis. Of course, those who know me know that I prefer to try something before jumping right in (there are still those who speak of the time I asked for a sample of each of the 6 salad dressings offered at Baton Rouge so I wouldn’t order one by name and then hate the taste. Obnoxious? Maybe. Time-Consuming? Sure. Foolish? Absolutely not! I saved my salad from being drenched in the yummy-sounding but horrid tasting “balsamic-lime vinaigrette” and proved that I actually do like blue cheese, all in one fell swoop) so to further amuse those people I am attempting this commitment before I commit to it. Ahem. This means I am PRACTICING writing in this blog every day until Jan 1, so I’ll know at that time if it’s a doable thing to commit to. Make sense? Good. Moving on.
