ba’thos

(-a-) n. ludicrous descent from the elevated to the mean in writing or speech. [G. bathys, deep, sphaira, sphere]

I couldn’t resist sharing a link to this adorable set of bedsheets:

How cute is this?!? I think I want it. Do they make them for waterbeds? Hmmm…

Oh, and it’s not mean. Ludicrous maybe, but not mean. 🙂

(o-) a. that is the one specimen.- adv. soley, merely, exclusively. –conj. but, excepting that [OE. anlic, one like]

(today’s word chosen by Yannick)

It was 6 years and 1 month ago that a wee little bumble bee flitted around her little world, merrily minding her own buzz-ness. Then Billy Idol walked into her life and she thought “Damn, I’d wear my sunglasses at night for him!” He, too, was smitten, and once out of their Hallowe’en costumes they still found their secret identities of Yannick and Jennifer appealing. One month later, on December 1st 1998, they were officially an item.

I guess today’s word is apropos, ‘cus I can really look back and says “It’s only been 6 years?” It feels like so few, and yet a veeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrry long time, all at once. It hasn’t always been easy crafting for this guy. There was the knitted sweater, supposed to be my first gift to him. I narrowly avoided the Sweater Curse by getting fed up after doing half of the back. Apparently there is no Crochet Sweater Curse, ‘cus we’re still here. Now the proud recipient of a sweater (begun in 1999, taken apart and restarted more than once but finally completed in 2004), a pair of socks (one of which is still otn), and a bed cover (which my mother may or may not still be in the process of ripping back. A 6′ x 10’ blanket is NOT A GOOD THING) plus many other gifts that aren’t fiber-related, he’s just agreed to attempt to learn to knit so he can make me something in return. That’s love.

Happy Anniversary Angel.

p.s. I’m aware I didn’t post yesterday. I have my reasons.

boun’ty

n. liberality; gift; premium- boun’teous, boun’tiful a.-boun’tifully adv. [F. bonté-L. bonitatem-bonus, good]

I’m starting something new. To get out of having to come up with a clever title for each post, I’m turning to the dictionary for a random word. Maybe it’ll fit in with the post. Maybe not. Maybe I’ll come up with a clever way to make it fit. In any case, this starts NOW.

Ahh bounty. Bountiful, actually. How could I not feel bountiful? Besides all the wonderful stash I’ve already shared with you, today I get home from a trip to the LYS, and I have this:

I have this:

and I have this:

The magazines are obviously to read. The yummy colorful stuff is a Fleece Artist kit of mohair and Blue-Face Leicester (I don’t know what this means but it says it on the tag) to make myself a pair of mittens. I fell in love with the colors and fondled it every time I went to the LYS. I guess my willpower today was at a low, ‘cus somehow it ended up in my hands at the cash AFTER I’d already bought and paid for my other stuff. I’d like to think I’ll have them done while its still cold out, but who am I kidding? I live in Canada. It’s cold until June.

The Snowflake and Silky stuff are to make a teddy bear to be gifted (by someone else, not me. I’m just doing the knitting). I imagine it will be very cute once done, especially since I found a little shop that sells teddy eyes and snouts. I can’t wait to see the finished project, but I won’t be casting this on until at least January. Too much holiday stuff to do first.

For those who are amazed that this post’s word fits perfectly with the post, well, ok, I cheated. I picked this first word. Whatever, my blog, my rules. All future ones will be random, I promise.

And for anyone who has issues with knitters or knitting in general, read the cover of knit.1 up there. Knitting is Sexy. Told you so.
